A cautionary tale about trusting AI without expert guidance.
AI is a positive feedback loop. When you ask it a vague question without context, it mirrors your assumptions — right or wrong. Tell it your website looks terrible, and it'll agree. Tell it your website is amazing, and it'll agree with that too.
Here's how it works:
Negative prompt
"Review our website, I think it's done badly."
AI responds: "Yes, it looks bad. You should rebuild it."
Positive prompt
"Review our website, I think it's awesome!"
AI responds: "Wow, it looks great!"
A recent client asked ChatGPT to review the website we built for them. She framed the question negatively — so she got a negative answer. AI told her everything was wrong, and she believed it 100%, over what our team tried to explain.
ChatGPT told her to delete her website footer and remove her Google Maps listing. She trusted AI, ignored our expertise, and dismantled her online presence.
The result?
They went from ranking on the first page for "roofing New Braunfels" to being completely nonexistent in search results.
