What Is Marketing? · Part 2

What Love.Marketing Covers (and What We Don't)

Marketing is a big word. Before you hire anyone, you should know exactly which parts of it they will actually do. Here is our list, with nothing hidden.

We focus on the channels that can be tracked from first click to phone call, form or sale. If we cannot measure it, we tell you, and we usually point you to someone who does that work every day.

What we run, measure and report on

    ChannelWe do itWhat you get
Website design and developmentYesA fast site built to turn visitors into calls and forms
Brand and graphic designYesA consistent look across your site, profiles and ads
SEO (search engine optimization)YesPages that rank for what your buyers type into Google
Local SEO and Google Business ProfileYesShowing up in the map results near your customers
GEO (showing up in AI answers)YesContent built so AI tools can find and cite you
Google AdsYesPaid search with conversion tracking set up first
Microsoft (Bing) AdsYesSearch ads on Bing and the Microsoft network
Meta Ads (Facebook and Instagram)YesPaid social aimed at your service area
YouTube and TikTok AdsYesVideo ads on the platforms where your buyers spend time
Google Ad Grants (nonprofits)YesFree Google search ads for qualifying nonprofits
Social media managementYesSteady posting and community replies
Content, photography and videoYesArticles, guides, real photos and short video that answer real questions
Conversion tracking and analytics (GA4, Search Console)YesProof of what worked, in calls, forms and sales
AI automation and custom CRMYesFollow-up that happens even when you are busy

What is also marketing, but we refer out

ChannelWe do itWhy we refer it
Printing (brochures, business cards, signs)NoA print shop does it better and cheaper
Direct mail and mailersNoSpecialist mail houses handle lists, postage and printing
Billboards and outdoorNoMedia owners sell this directly
Radio and TV airtimeNoBroadcast buying is its own specialty
Public relations (press, media pitching)NoA PR firm owns relationships with reporters
Door to door and cold callingNoSales activity, not something we staff
Trade shows, events and promo itemsNoEvent and promo vendors do this full time

None of the "No" items are bad marketing. A mailer can work. A billboard can work. We just think a business owner deserves an honest answer about which work an agency does in house and which it would be guessing at.

When a client needs one of these, I tell them so, help them set it up to be measurable (a tracking number, a QR code to a landing page, a unique offer code), and keep our digital channels pointed the same direction.
